The Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) examines educational processes from birth until late adulthood. Being a research and infrastructure facility, it designs large-scale longitudinal studies on questions of education and makes available the collected data to the international scientific community free of charge.
Currently, more than 190 people work at LIfBi in the areas of research, infrastructure, and administration. The scientific staff is international and interdisciplinary—just like our research. We are dedicated to diversity and equal opportunities at all levels. Being a family-friendly employer, LIfBi offers appropriate working-time models, a parent-child room, bring-your-child-to-work days, and a holiday program.
We are particularly eager to promote junior scientists and to provide further training to support our employees in their professional and personal development in the best possible way. To achieve this, we offer regular in-house seminars, training courses, and lecture series. Thanks to our close ties to the University of Bamberg, we cooperate with the Trimberg Research Academy (TRAc) and the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS). In addition, our doctoral students and post-docs are well networked with both the Leibniz Association and our network partners.
And finally, our location in Bamberg offers a wide range of cultural activities and the highest quality of life: The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and not only attracts numerous tourists every year but also offers an excellent place to live and work.
