The study’s objectives

INSIDE is to provide, for the first time, comprehensive and reliable information as part of a review of the current state of the implementation of inclusion in the lower secondary tier in all 16 German federal states. Furthermore, the study will also show which organizational parameters, which forms of teaching staff cooperation, and which teaching processes result in inclusive schooling leading to the successful personal development of pupils with special educational needs. Another key element of the study is the question as to the effects which inclusion has on those pupils without equivalent special needs.

On the basis of the information thus acquired, INSIDE will help to distinguish which factors are necessary for the success of inclusive schooling, on the basis of which political strategies and reform measures may be developed. INSIDE is thus intended to create a substantiated data and information basis to serve as the foundation for political objectives for the successful implementation of inclusion.
