On Friday, December 5, 2014, representatives of the Upper Franconian schools inspectorate visited the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) in order to learn more about the project “Educational Landscape of Upper Franconia (BiLO)”.

Guest lecture on regional information of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP)

On November 25, 2014, Dr. Jan Goebel, Deputy Head of the German Socio-Economic Panel and Head of Data Operation and Research Data Center (RDC SOEP), gave a presentation on the potential of regionalized analyses with data of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP). He also outlined the current situation of existing regional indicators as well as ways of using and accessing them for the scientific community.

Project BiLO–Educational Landscape of Upper Franconia–continues networking

On October 23, 2014, the LIfBi project “BildungsLandschaft Oberfranken (BiLO)” (Educational Landscape of Upper Franconia) followed an invitation to visit the management office of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region in order to get into contact with the Upper Franconian Zukunftscoaches, who are important cooperation partners and gatekeepers for the project due to their local interconnections. 

6th Meeting of the LIfBi Board of Trustees

On October 18, 2014, the 6th Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories took place. Following the recently held election of NEPS staff representatives, Dr. Michael Bayer, representative of NEPS scientific staff, attended the meeting in an advisory capacity for the first time.

Presenting an information booth on the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) appeared at the annual meetings of the Verein für Socialpolitik and the Subdivision Educational Research (Arbeitsgruppe Empirische Pädagogische Forschung) as well as the biennial congresses of the German Society for Psychology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychologie) and the German Sociological Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie).

On Tuesday, October 14, 2014, Johann Kalb, Head of the Local District of Bamberg (Landrat des Landkreises Bamberg), visited the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) at the University of Bamberg and learned about the studies and projects carried out under the common roof of the Institute.

At this year’s annual SLLS conference “Lives in Translation: Life Course Research and Social Policies” in Lausanne, Switzerland, from October 9 to 11, 2014, the founder of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), Prof. Hans-Peter Blossfeld, now with the European University Institute, Italy, succeeded Prof. Elizabeth Cooksey, Ohio State University, USA, in the SLLS presidential office.
