Administration

The LIfBi administration organizes all administrative processes at the institute. As a service provider and central service facility, it ensures the smooth running of complex administrative processes, looks after a wide range of technical services and thus guarantees the functionality of daily processes at the institute. In addition, the administration supports and monitors the fulfillment of legal requirements and is responsible for internal controlling.

The staff of the administrative director includes the work area "Digital Administration and Process Management" as well as the company health management.

Doctor Stefan Echinger

Administrative Director's Office

The office of the administrative director supports Dr. Stefan Echinger in all organizational work processes. This includes the coordination and administration of appointments of the director, preparation of meeting documents as well as the planning and organization of events, meetings and travel. Furthermore, both internal and external communication and correspondence are part of the core activities. The office of the administrative director is in close contact with other assistants and secretariats to ensure a smooth flow between administration and science.

Digital Administration and Process Management

Digital Administration

The core task of this staff position is the digital transformation of administrative processes at LIfBi combined with the gradual establishment of digital processes to create more efficient workflows.

In the Process Management staff unit, administrative processes are successively documented, gradually optimized or, together with those responsible for and involved in the processes, newly developed.

Finance/Controlling/Procurement

The Finance/Controlling/Procurement working unit is responsible for financial accounting at the institute, the preparation of the annual financial statements, and the mathematical reports on the use of third-party funds for projects. 

Since February 2022, the Leibniz Competence Center Procurement (LKCB) of the Leibniz Association is located at LIfBi and is supervised by the working unit.

Third-Party Funding

In addition to the administrative support of third-party funded projects, the Third-Party Funding Working Unit offers comprehensive support in planning and application as well as in the proper handling of the use of funds up to the final documentation. The aim of the department is to strengthen LIfBi's research interests by advising and coordinating third-party funding activities, so that applicants and project managers can implement project plans efficiently and in a goal-oriented manner.

The personnel office is responsible for the application management, the personnel administration, the calculation and payment of salaries, the processing of business trip requests and settling travel expenses and the coordination of training at LIfBi. Facility Management

The facility management working unit is responsible in particular for the areas of technical infrastructure as well as fire protection and occupational health and safety. The division is also responsible for numerous services related to space and relocation planning, fault management and security issues.

IT

The working unit IT runs the central IT services for the LIfBI and ensures their operational readiness. The IT unit is an internal service provider offering workplace systems and peripherals for all the institute’s employees. The unit provides ongoing support to the members of staff at the LIfBi who use these systems, and also functions as the central point of contact for the optimization of IT-assisted processes.
