From Bamberg train station
Around 10 to 15 minutes walking distance:
Use the main exit of the train station and follow Luitpoldstraße ahead of you.
Cross the canal bridge and turn left towards Heinrichsdamm.
After around 300 meters (330 yards), you will reach Marienbrücke.
The historical building of the “Wilhelmspost” is located to your right at the intersection of Heinrichsdamm/Wilhelmstraße.
Public Transport:
Bus lines 901, 902, 911, 917 and 931 will take you to the central bus station (ZOB). From there, follow Franz-Ludwig-Straße for about 500m before turning right onto Wilhelmsplatz.
By bike
Bicycle parking spaces are available in the courtyard of the Wilhelmspost. The courtyard is directly adjacent to the Institute building and can be easily accessed via the courtyard entrance. We recommend travelling by bike, as the Institute is well connected to Bamberg’s cycle path network. Bicycles can be parked securely and free of charge during your visit.
By car:
Using highway A73:
Exit highway A73 at junction Bamberg Ost.
Stay on Pödeldorfer Straße and follow the signs directing you towards the city center.
After around 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles), cross Marienbrücke.
The historical building of the “Wilhelmspost” is located to your left at the intersection of Heinrichsdamm/Wilhelmstraße.
Using highway A70:
Exit highway A70 at junction Bamberg. Follow Berliner Ring towards the city center.
After around 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles), turn right towards Starkenfeldstraße.
Follow this street for around 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and cross Marienbrücke.
The historical building of the “Wilhelmspost” is located to your left at the intersection of Heinrichsdamm/Wilhelmstraße.
