Crucial decision by LIfBi Board of Trustees at its 12th meeting on June 27, 2017


Chaired by Prof. Dr. Rudolf Tippelt from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, the LIfBi Board of Trustees convened for their 12th meeting on June 27, 2017. The interim Director of LIfBi, Prof. Dr. Sandra Buchholz, gave her report on the developments of the Institute since the Board of Trustees’ last meeting in March 2017. The committee cleared the way for a fresh start of the joint appointment procedure together with the University of Bamberg to fill the position of LIfBi Director. The Board of Trustees also expressed its support for the upcoming appointment or tenure procedures for professorial heads of LIfBi Departments, especially Departments 2 and 3.

Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Kerstin Schneider, representative of the LIfBi Scientific Advisory Board, informed the members of the Board of Trustees about the Scientific Advisory Board’s evaluation of the work at the Institute. Finally, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schneider, Vice Chair of the NEPS Annual General Meeting, reported on the activities of the NEPS Network Committee.

The following members with voting rights were in attendance (in alphabetical order): Prof. Dr. Marlis Buchmann (University Zurich), Ministerialrat Dr. Johannes Eberle (Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts), Kornelia Haugg (Federal Ministry of Education and Research), Prof. Dr. Jutta Heckhausen (University of California in Irvine, via conference call), Prof. Dr. Dr. habil. Godehard Ruppert (President of the University of Bamberg) and Prof. Dr. Rudolf Tippelt (Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich).

Furthermore, as per the statutes, all members of the LIfBi Board of Directors were present in their advisory function. Also in attendance in their advisory function were Prof. Dr. Thorsten Schneider (Leipzig University) as Vice Chair of the NEPS Annual General Meeting and the NEPS Network Committee, Prof. Dr. Kerstin Schneider (University of Wuppertal), representing the Scientific Advisory Board, as well as Dr. Bernd Schaal (State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research), and Regierungsdirektorin Anke Ortmann-Gerhardt (Ministry for Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia), both representing the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany. Dr. Georg Brun (Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts) and Dr. Doerte Treuheit (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) attended the meeting as guests.
