The central theme of the meeting was to inform the members of the Board of Trustees about the three currently ongoing appointment procedures conducted jointly with the University of Bamberg for the regular position of the Director, the Heads of Department 2 “Educational Decisions and Processes, Migration, Returns to Education“, and Department 3 “Research Data Center, Method Development“. Further important topics included the preparation of the evaluation of the Institute in Fall 2019, the reports of the representative of the LIfBi Scientific Advisory Board, Professor Walter Müller, Mannheim Center for European Social Research, the Deputy Chair of the NEPS Annual General Meeting, Professor Claus H. Carstensen, University of Bamberg, and the Equal Opportunities Officer, Dr. Franziska Fellenberg. Furthermore, the Deputy Head of the LIfBi Administration, Thomas Saueracker, informed the Board about the provisional results of the annual statement of accounts of 2017.
Change of personnel in the Board of Trustees
Professor Hans-Anand Pant, Humboldt-University of Berlin, and Professor Katharina Spieß, DIW Berlin, were appointed to their seat on the LIfBi Board of Trustees starting on March 21. The former Chair, Professor Rudolf Tippelt, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, and Professor Stefan Wolter, President of the Group of National Experts on Vocational Education and Training of the OECD and Director of the Swiss Coordination Center for Research in Education, had previously left the Board of Trustees. Professor Marlis Buchmann, University of Zurich, and Professor Jutta Heckhausen, University of California, Irvine, have now started their second term, with Buchmann taking over the position of Chairperson.
Change of personnel also in the Scientific Advisory Board
Professor Hannah Brueckner, Ph.D, New York University Abu Dhabi, Professor Martin Brunner, University of Potsdam, Professor Paul Leseman, University of Utrecht, as well as Professor Klaus Tochtermann, Director of the Leibniz Information Centre for Economics and Professor for Media Informatics at the University of Kiel, were appointed as members of the Scientific Advisory Board starting on March 25, 2018.
Professor Robert Erikson, Stockholm University, Professor Walter Müller, Mannheim Center for European Social Research, and Professor Rainer Bromme, University of Münster, have left the Board by the end of the month. They had been members of the Scientific Advisory Board since March 2014.
Professor Kathy Sylva, University of Oxford, and Professor Louis-André Vallet, CNRS and Sciences Po Paris, were appointed for a second term starting on March 25.
