"Arrived?" Virtual Conference on the Integration of Refugees Takes Place in May 2021

11/10/2020

On May 20 and 21, 2021, the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories will host the conference "Arrived? On the Situation of Refugee Children and Adolescents in the German Education System". The conference will take place in a virtual format and will offer the opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange between science, politics and practice.

The BMBF-funded study "ReGES - Refugees in the German Educational System" examines the conditions under which refugees can be successfully integrated into the German educational system. After five years of data collection and seven sub-studies, a summary is now to be drawn – in exchange with other projects and within the framework of a final conference.

The event will focus on the integration of refugees in the areas of elementary education, secondary school, and vocational training and preparation. Other contributions related to the topic of education are also welcome. Submitted papers do not have to be related to ReGES data.

The renowned migration researchers Prof. Dr. Lori Wilkinson (University of Manitoba, Canada) and Prof. Dr. Claudia Diehl (University of Konstanz, Germany) could be won for the keynote lectures. With the exception of one keynote, the conference will be held in German language.

The event will also provide an opportunity for young scientists to present research questions in the form of a virtual poster presentation in three-minute pitches.
