8th International NEPS Conference

"Survey Data Linked to Administrative Data: NEPS-ADIAB & Co."

The NEPS conference series of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) brings together scientists from different disciplines and from different stages of their academic careers to discuss current projects in educational research. This year, the conference will be organized as a symposium with a particular focus on findings and potentials in educational, employment and labor market research based on linked survey and administrative data. NEPS-ADIAB sets the thematic framework with data from the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) combined with administrative information, mainly from the “Integrated Employment Biographies” and partially ranging from 1975 to 2020, that is.provided by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). By now, linked data from five NEPS cohorts – newborns (parents), fifth graders, ninth graders, students, and adults – are available to the scientific community.

We cordially invite presentations that are dealing with linked survey and administrative data. They do not necessarily have to be based on NEPS-ADIAB, research using other linked data sources is also welcome. Presentations of empirical results from completed or ongoing projects are possible as well as the introduction of new research ideas. Contributions are accepted in the form of oral presentations (30 min) or posters (A0). The program will also include an open space discussion on the use of NEPS-ADIAB.

We are particularly pleased to have Prof. Bernd Fitzenberger, Ph.D. (Director of the IAB, Chair of Quantitative Labor Economics at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg) as our keynote speaker at the conference. The announcement of the title of his lecture will follow with the compilation of the program.

Conference language is English. The event will be held in presence at LIfBi in Bamberg. Depending on the technical facilities, we will establish an online access for passive participation. However, our emphasis is on a lively exchange on site with talks, joint coffee breaks and a small reception. There will be no conference fee.
