LIfBi is recruiting head for a new junior research group

In the second half of 2021, a new junior research group on "Outcomes of Education Across the Lifespan" is to start at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi). For this purpose, the institute is now looking for a head for the group. Applications will be accepted until April 15, 2021.

Education promotes personal development and enables social, cultural, and economic participation. Better educated individuals tend to be healthier, less likely to exhibit deviant behavior, and more active in social and political life. On a societal level, education also supports cohesion and is an essential factor in ensuring prosperity.

The new junior research group "Outcomes of Education Across the Lifespan" is dedicated to the mechanisms through which education and lifelong learning influence these different areas of life. Through innovative empirical research, it investigates the complex and dynamic processes of short- and longer-term outcomes and consequences of education across the life course. This research will preferably be conducted on the data basis of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS).

The position includes, among other things, the concretization of the research agenda and the work plan of the research group, the development and realization of a dissemination strategy on research findings, including in particular high-impact journals and also transfer activities, as well as the independent leadership of the junior research group including the supervision of doctoral studies. For further information, please contact the director of LIfBi, Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt.

This new junior research group is already the second to be established at LIfBi. Back in 2016, a team of young female researchers was assembled to work intensively for four years on the topic of "Gender Roles and Competencies in the Life Course." During this time, the female researchers have focused on the analysis of NEPS data in the specific consideration and mapping of gender-specific competence trajectories as well as the psychological mechanisms explaining gender differences in competencies and competence-relevant constructs.
