The National Educational Panel Study discusses ethnic questions regarding longitudinal research on an international workshop

On the 5th and 6th May 2011 the representatives of 20 different longitudinal studies met at a workshop, concerning the survey of children and young adults participating in longitudinal studies, in Dublin.

The workshop was organized by the longitudinal study “Growing Up in Ireland” in Dublin and the “Centre for Longitudinal Studies” at the “Institute of Education in London”; the representatives were invited by the EUCCONET-Network (European Child Cohort Network), which is supported by the European Science Foundation (ESF). Within 12 individual presentations the research approaches of different European and non-European studies were represented and especially ethnic aspects were a center issue of discussion. The National Educational Panel Study was represented by the Executive Director of Administration, Dr. Jutta von Maurice, giving a speech on data collection regarding the educational processes and the competence development of 9th-grade-students.
