BMBF approves add-on study for NEPS Starting Cohort 5–First-Year Students in Higher Education

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) has approved funding for the Panel of Teacher Education Students (Lehramtsstudierenden-Panel, LAP) as of October 1, 2014.

In addition to Starting Cohort 5–First-Year Students in Higher Education–of the National Educational Panel Study, which has been investigating the educational trajectories of undergraduate students since winter semester 2010/2011, project LAP specifically aims to examine (prospective) teachers.

The project has a duration of about 3 years and is carried out by the German Centre for Research on Higher Education and Science Studies (Deutsches Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung, DZHW) and the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi).

More information on objectives, research questions, and the methodological outline of this add-on study is available here.
