As part of the NEPSGeoData project, the address and contact information of study participants of the NEPS cohorts 1 to 6 were comprehensively georeferenced for the first time and prepared for scientific use. In total, the addresses available at the time of the project were converted into geocoordinates for almost 52,000 cases. These geocoordinates were then embedded in a uniform grid of 100m × 100m cells and supplemented with additional spatial references (including municipality and city district codes). This database provides new access to small-scale analyses of education and inequality within the framework of the National Education Panel Study. A description of the process, the data structure, and selected distributions is provided in the NEPS Survey Paper No. 125 (in German).

The data can now be accessed via the Research Data Center. Detailed information on the procedure and conditions for matching (one's own) regional indicators to the NEPS survey and competency data based on the grid information is provided on the corresponding website.
