Inaugural Meeting: Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt appointed to Bavarian Expert Commission for Teacher Education

The state of Bavaria has established a new expert commission to deal with the development of teacher education. Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt, Director of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories, has also been appointed to the commission.

The Bavarian State Minister for Science and Arts Markus Blume and the Bavarian State Minister for Education Michael Piazolo opened the first meeting of the new Expert Commission on Teacher Education on July 12, 2023. The commission is tasked with developing proposals to further develop teacher training and make it even more attractive. In particular, the practical phases of teacher training should be intensified and it should be possible to change courses more flexibly during the course of study.

The commission includes representatives of the teachers' associations, scientists from teacher education at the Bavarian universities and a member of the Bavarian state students' representation. The Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Science support the work of the commission.
