Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories at the University of Bamberg becomes official member of the Leibniz Association

19th general meeting of members of the Leibniz Association votes to admit the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsverläufe e.V., LIfBi) into the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Scientific Association (“Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz e.V., WGL”) as of January 1, 2014.

The Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories at the University of Bamberg, which was primarily founded for this purpose, will run the National Educational Panel Study in the future. The induction of LIfBi into the Leibniz Association ensures a stable and long-term future for NEPS, which has been described as a “worldwide unique research infrastructure” by the German Science Council in its statement of April 26, 2013. Only five years after its foundation, NEPS will have turned from a temporary research project into an infrastructure facility permanently financed under the funding agreement between the German Federal and State Governments.
