LIfBi congratulates Marie-Ann Sengewald on her appointment at FAU

Dr. Marie-Ann Sengewald has been appointed to Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. She will take up the W1 professorship for Psychological Methodology and Diagnostics there in September.

Marie-Ann Sengewald conducts research on the development and application of quantitative methods that contribute to the fair measurement of psychological characteristics, the precise analysis of the effectiveness of interventions, and the systematic consolidation of study results. Most recently, she led the “Conceptual Replications” project at LIfBi, which deals with the replicability of scientific findings. In collaboration, Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Cologne, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and LIfBi investigated study characteristics that cause variation in research results. Based on their own series of studies, the project developed recommendations for conducting systematic replication studies.

Marie-Ann Sengewald was recently honored with the Sigrid Blömeke Scholarship Award 2025 from the CREATE Excellence Cluster at the University of Oslo. "Marie-Ann Sengewald is an outstanding researcher. We are delighted that she is now taking the next step in her scientific career – and will remain connected to LIfBi," emphasized Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt, Director of LIfBi.

Marie-Ann Sengewald looks back on an enriching time at LIfBi. "I have learned a lot about ensuring data quality and how to evaluate extensive panel data in a user-friendly way. I am all the more delighted to be able to take the diverse possibilities of data use and the collaboration with a really strong team with me to Erlangen – and to remain close by."

A short interview on Marie-Ann Sengewald's appointment can be found in the “New at FAU” section.
