NEPS at IAB workshop “Data from the National Educational Panel Study, Official Statistics, and the IAB”

On June 10 and 11, Dr. Corinna Kleinert and Dr. Jan Skopek presented the NEPS and its data at the IAB workshop “Data from the National Educational Panel Study, Official Statistics, and the IAB“ in Nuremberg. The workshop was hosted by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in cooperation with the University of Bamberg (NEPS, BAGSS), the Research Data Centers of the Statistical Offices of the Länder, and the German Society for Social Scientific Labor Market Research (Deutsche Vereinigung für Sozialwissenschaftliche Arbeitsmarktforschung e.V., SAMF).

The presentation of the latest data sets by the hosting institutions was at the center of attention. The attendance of numerous researchers from different disciplines documented the keen, scholarly interest in this convention. After giving a brief introduction to the panel design of the National Educational Panel Study, Dr. Kleinert focused on the survey design and analytical potential of NEPS Starting Cohort 6–Adults–in her presentation. Subsequently, Dr. Skopek elaborated on documentation and different ways of data access in the National Educational Panel Study. Alongside NEPS, other interesting data sets and studies such as the panel study "Labor market and social security" (PASS) or the Linked-Employer-Employee data set of the IAB (LIAB) were presented. A special thanks to Stefan Bender, Head of the IAB Research Data Center, for organizing this convention, a highly relevant event to empirical social- and economic research.
