New webinar series “New Data Spaces | Dialogues” continues in December

On December 7, 2026, the next online event in the “New Data Spaces | Dialogues” series will take place: a webinar on “Experience Sampling”. The series discusses methodological innovations and their practical implementation in panel and survey research and is organized as part of the DFG Priority Program SPP 2431, “New Data Spaces for the Social Sciences.”

The webinar on December 7 with Dr. Miriam Jähne (Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, New Data Spaces project „SHERPA“) introduces a structured framework for selecting an appropriate sampling design using the Experience Sampling Method, a method that repeatedly surveys participants in daily life. Drawing on practical experience, she discusses how researchers can make informed design choices, including in situations where research does not provide clear guidance on which design to choose and how these decisions shape psychological research more broadly.

“New Data Spaces | Dialogues” is a bi-monthly interactive webinar series hosted by New Data Spaces for the Social Sciences (SPP 2431). The series provides a dedicated forum for exploring methodological innovations that are shaping the future of panel and survey research. Through presentations, expert perspectives, and interactive discussions, it brings together researchers, panel study experts, survey methodologists, data users, and other stakeholders to exchange experiences, discuss implementation challenges, and explore how new approaches can be translated into sustainable solutions for social science research.

The series kicked off in October with a talk by Prof. Dr. Florian Keusch and Dr. Sebastian Prechsl who presented findings from the New Data Spaces project „Data Donation“ to more than 80 attendees.
