NEPS-Pillar - Education Processes in Life-Course-specific Learning Environments

"Educational Processes in Life Course-specific Learning Environments" focuses on the theoretical foundations and empirical implementation in surveying characteristics of learning opportunities in relevant learning environments that can affect skill acquisition and educational processes. Learning environments are conceptualized as providers of learning opportunities that can be used by learners to acquire skills and competencies.

Learning environments are divided into three domains in the National Educational Panel:

  • formal (e.g. school, training position, university),
  • non-formal (e.g. child and youth welfare services, of clubs and religious communities) and
  • informal (e.g. family, peers, media) learning environments.
