Professor Christian Aßmann, Head of Department 3 "Research Data Center and Method Development" at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) and holder of the Chair of Survey Statistics and Data Analysis at the University of Bamberg, has been appointed to the scientific advisory board of "MO|RE data". The project of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), aims to establish a generally accessible digital infrastructure for sports science research data. Christian Aßmann is delighted to be able to support the project team with his many years of expertise in the processing of scientific data.

Data on motor performance has been collected nationally and internationally for decades. However, the study situation is characterized by heterogeneity in terms of the methods and samples used. In addition, much of the data collected does not lead to publications and therefore remains unnoticed in sports science research. In the MO|RE data project, which has been funded by the DFG since 2014, a web-based application has already been created to bundle all available data on motor performance in an eResearch infrastructure and make it available to the general public. The project is also generating comprehensive standard data and publishing materials on sports motor tests.

Christian Aßmann: "I am delighted to be a member of the the scientific advisory board of MO|RE data. Preparing research data and making it available to the scientific community is one of LIfBi's most important infrastructural tasks. We are already involved in various committees to help shape the research data landscape in Germany. With MO|RE data, we are now adding a project that has been intensively dedicated to the topic of 'FAIR Data' for almost 10 years."

Professor Aßmann is involved in the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) in the Consortium for the Social, Behavioral, Educational and Economic Sciences (KonsortSWD), where he is co-spokesperson for the Data Access Task Area. He is already active as an advisor in the evaluation of the "Gute-KiTa-Gesetz"(ERiK) and the Adult Education Survey (AES).

MO|RE data is accessible free of charge for researchers as well as practitioners (trainers, teachers, doctors) and the interested public. One of the main concerns of the project team is therefore to make the web-based applications particularly user-friendly. The project is being carried out jointly by the Institute of Sports and Sports Science (IfSS) and the KIT library and is funded by the DFG. MO|RE data was awarded 3rd place in the "Open Data Impact Award" of the German Stifterverband in 2020.
