The NEPS units

The National Educational Panel organizes its work via the NEPS units. In general, each of these NEPS units is led by at least one scientific head from among the → NEPS network partners, whereby each unit also has an organisational anchorage at LIfBi, from where the NEPS is centrally managed.

NEPS Director

The management of the NEPS is defined by the statutes of LIfBi § 9 para. (3) and is incumbent upon → Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt, the director of LIfBi. She is responsible for the direction and steering of the entire NEPS as well as the cooperation with the NEPS network. She is supported in this work by the team of the NEPS Development unit.

NEPS Executive Committee at LIfBi

The NEPS Executive Committee at LIfBi is formed by the LIfBi department heads, Prof. Dr. Ilka Wolter, Prof. Dr. Corinna Kleinert, Dr. Jutta von Maurice and Prof. Dr. Christian Aßmann (from left to right).

The members of the NEPS Executive Committee share, among other things, the professional preparation of the cooperation with individual NEPS network partners or NEPS units and the responsibility for the conception of the succession of individual NEPS starting cohorts.

Thus, the so-called starting cohort responsibility for the continuation of NEPS starting cohort 6 lies with Prof. Dr. Corinna Kleinert and her team. Prof. Dr. Ilka Wolter and her team are responsible for the continuation of NEPS starting cohort 8 as well as for the planning of a new NEPS starting cohort with a focus on early education (NEPS starting cohort 7).

Prof. Dr. Christian Aßmann and his team are conceptually responsible for the design of those starting cohorts that have successively been transferred to the so-called wide-meshed monitoring with outcome surveys at intervals of usually five years. Dr. Jutta von Maurice and her team in the study management contribute their expertise and take over the implementation of the concept. The content of the outcome surveys is designed by Prof. Dr. Corinna Kleinert and her team.

NEPS pillars

Based on their own research expertise, the scientific heads of the six NEPS pillars work with their teams to collect survey content on the core topics of NEPS across the life course (→ framework concept - german only).

NEPS stages

The scientific heads of the eight NEPS stages and their teams each contribute an age-specific perspective to the survey program of the NEPS starting cohorts (→ framework concept - german only).

In addition, the NEPS stages often take over the coordination and compilation of survey instruments in the NEPS network and tasks in the implementation of surveys. In addition, the stages were previously responsible for preparing the medium- and long-term planning of the survey design and survey programme for the NEPS start cohorts in the respective, age-specific cut in cooperation with the NEPS network. With the current cohort succession, these tasks will be transferred to the → NEPS Executive Committee.

Further NEPS units

In addition, units with overarching and fundamental tasks complement the organizational structure of the multilocal NEPS network.
