The Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) in Bamberg studies educational processes from birth to old age. In order to promote longitudinal research in educational science in Germany, LIfBi provides a fundamental, supraregional and internationally significant, research-based infrastructure for empirical educational research. The core of the institute is the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), which is based at LIfBi and combines the expertise of a Germany-wide, interdisciplinary network of excellence.

Upper Franconian Foundation (Oberfrankenstiftung) funds project “Education and Region: Building up a Local Education Database for Upper Franconia” at LIfBi

Being a charitable foundation, the Upper Franconian Foundation caters to the administrative region of Upper Franconia (www.oberfrankenstiftung.de). Besides projects concerning the fields of arts and culture as well as historic preservation, the Upper Franconian Foundation also funds science and research projects, such as the project “Education and Region: Building up a Local Education Database for Upper Franconia”, which will be located at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsverläufe e.V., LIfBi).

The aim of the project is to build up a local education database for Upper Franconia, which is also going to lay the groundwork for a local atlas of education for Upper Franconia. In doing so, the perspective of educational suppliers (i.e., educational institutions) will be featured alongside the perspective of the users of different educational opportunities. The project will be launched in 2014 and is designed to run for 5 years.
