The LINEup project, in which LIfBi is also involved, will start with a large opening event at the PH Karlsruhe on September 20. Director Cordula Artelt will present the NEPS as "The German Case" in her keynote speech. In the subsequent panel, she will discuss with representatives from science, politics and practice why longitudinal data is so important and what it takes to set it up. The NEPS will also be represented with a roundtable.
The LINEup project - Longitudinal Data for Inequalities in Education - aims to identify key success factors for high-quality education for pupils aged 6 to 18 at primary and secondary level. The focus is on reading literacy, mathematics and science.
An international consortium is mapping, analyzing and aggregating existing longitudinal data from 31 European countries to trace the emergence of educational inequalities across school careers in Europe. This quantitative mapping is complemented by qualitative research in the six project countries to collect primary data on the impact of possible measures to reduce these inequalities. The focus is on better understanding what schools can do to reduce inequalities in the short, medium and long term.
The Opening Event offers a unique opportunity to discuss the importance and challenges of longitudinal data in education with researchers, practitioners and experts from educational administration. Registration is open until September 13.
